CNN reports that Arthur C. Clarke has died. He leaves behind a rich set of novels, short stories, and space technology achievements. He also leaves behind the Clarke Foundation and its Arthur C. Clarke Awards to promote satellite communications, science, and the arts, the Arthur C. Clarke Challenge to inspire students to come up with ideas to improve commercial communications satellites, and space-related student scholarships. The most recent thing I've read from him - not too long ago - is a description of the results in Sri Lanka of the 2004 tsunami.
