The May 28 X PRIZE Foundation newsletter has link-filled sections on a number of topics. The one that's new to this blog is the one on board member Anousheh Ansari, who is starting the What If? Competition. Here's the newsletter section:
Anousheh Ansari has announced a student competition called the What If? Competition. Students from two different categories, elementary and high school, are required to submit answers to a specific problem. Winning students will receive a variety of prizes from telescopes to a personal planetarium. The deadline for entries is August 1, 2008.
Here are the categories (see more details on the site on the prizes and details on the scenarios):
grades 1-5: WHAT IF you were the first astronaut to set foot on another planet?
grades 6-12: WHAT IF I was Living on Mars?
There are also sections of the newsletter on Tata Motors entering the Progressive Automotive X PRIZE, the Google Lunar X PRIZE Team Summit, the X PRIZE collaboration with an MIT class, news on board member Craig Ventor, and the featured GLXP Lunar Legacy.
